RAKU

Kickwheel is hosting several local bay area studios for private firing Raku workshops. Contact Kickwheel if your ceramic studio is interested in facilitating a hands-on workshop to learn more about Raku firings.

PIT FIRE

Come and learn about the ancient art of pit-fired ceramics in this multi-day workshop put on by Mike and Karen.  Participants will gain an understanding of the process, learn about tricks 'n' tips to achieve amazing results, and get the opportunity to fire several of their works in the pit kiln!

SPECIAL GUEST ARTIST

We’re hosting Dwayne Sackey for a full day, one-day hands-on workshop, with 6 hours of instruction. Come watch this fun Clayer have his way with Clay!

Various techniques will be demonstrated and students will be working alongside Dwayne.

Workshop attendees are encouraged to bring their own clay. Clay is available for purchase through Kickwheel. Firings services and glazes are available for purchase as well if participants desire such. Otherwise work created in this workshop will not be kept afterwards.

Homemade lunch will be available for purchase at the studio, $12/ea.

Dwayne Sackey is a Portland based functional potter working with atmospheric firing techniques. He earned a BFA from Oregon College of Art and Craft in 2019. Dwayne Sackey does not aim for “flawlessness”, his work leaves a trace of a fluid, organic process and a human set of hands. Gentle curves, textured surfaces, and meandering lines speak through expressive brush strokes and luscious glazes.
